Nintendo Wii

The Nintendo Wii is tagged as the most innovative videogame unit. Prior to this console's actual release, it has been critically acclaimed and awarded at the E3, one of the biggest gaming convention in the world. The best think about it is that it's light-- both on the hardware and on your pockets too. (see Amazon.com for prices).
As a seventh-generation console from the beloved Nintendo, the Wii has been such a curious development. It's even a wonder how this tiny little thing could actually manage to compete with Sony's Playstation 3 and Microsoft's XBOX 360. The three were both released in 2006, and the Wii caused such an uproar to the gaming community, managing to almost outsell both powerhouse consoles. If that doesn't tell you anything about Nintedo Wii, then I don't know what will!
Features
The Nintendo Wii has 480p DVD-quality graphics. It works with built in wireless or with a USB network adapter. Players will be able to access the internet with it. The memory is an acceptable 88 MB (24 MB "internal" and 64 MB "external") with an SD card slot for extra storage.
To mention the Wii is to mention its revolutionary and innovative controller. It is one of the features that separate it from all the rest. Instead of the traditional horizontal game pad with buttons, the "Wiimote" a quirky name for a quirky thing, is rectangular and used vertically. But it's not in the design nor in the buttons that matter, it's the motion sensor, and the infrared and "accelerometers" inside the wiimote that captures the imagination. Paired together another remote called the "Nunchuck", playing videogames has never been as interactive.
Fun Factor
Much has been said about the Nintendo Wii as having the highest "fun factor" among its competition. It's not targeted on a specific age group, sex or style of gaming. Whether you're a 10-year old or a 40-year old, the Wii is designed to entertain you as much as it can, compared to the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360; nobody can deny that these consoles were designed for the serious or "hardcore" gamers. The Wii on the other hand is focused on good, clean fun for all ages that it has even established a following from the non-gamer audience.
The "Backward Compatibilty" of the Wii has also triggered a wider appreciation. It means that gamers who have long been playing Nintendo will be able to play old games on the console. It's one of the unique features that both the PS3 and the XBOX 360 don't have.
Since the Wii enables wireless connectivity, players of, the Nintendo DS will be thrilled to know that they will be allowed to use several features in the NDS for Wii games. The Nintendo DS-Wii connection allows NDS games to able to play battles using their NDS as a controller and players will be able to download game demos and other game files as well.
Nintendo has a great line-up of games that is sure to entice both Nintendo fans and garner new ones as well!
